Cordyceps - perform your best in the day; Reishi - relax and sleep well at night

Cordyceps – Chock full of energy for the body, this mushroom will get you ready for the day.  Not as well-known as Reishi, however this is beginning to change due to its health benefits.  The two most popular and researched varieties are Cordyceps sinensis and Cordyceps militaris. Also called Caterpillar Mushroom, Cordyceps is famously made by extracting the fruiting bodies of Cordyceps militaris that ‘take over’ a caterpillar. In Australia, Cordyceps is not derived this way as it is raised in commercial growing environments that are ethical and suitable for vegans.  Cordyceps is known to replenish energy levels by oxygenating blood cells.

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) -  Reishi has quite a history in Eastern Medicine as it has been known to be an immune modulator because it seems to work with those that are immune compromised as well as those with auto-immune or ‘over-active’ immune systems. Studies have even found that some forms of Reishi may alter inflammation pathways in white blood cells (1).  Other studies indicate that Reishi can help with promoting relaxation by having a positive impact upon depression, anxiety and fatigue. Taken at night Reishi can become part of your nightly bedtime ritual in a cup of tea.
