Organic Guar Gum is an off-white flour-like powder with an earthy odour. It is used as a thickener and emulsifier in gluten free baking and cooking to bind, condense and emulsify gluten-free ingredients. Guar gum can also be used as a fibre supplement as a source of soluble fibre. It is used used in gravies, sauces and soups in place of flour as a thickening agent.
Organic Guar Gum Powder is made by grinding the seed of a guar beans. The seeds are dehusked, milled and screened to produce an off-white coloured flour-like powder.
Only a very small quantity of guar gum is needed for thickening to create a 'sticky' quality. If too much is used, baking tends to become heavy and stringy in texture.
For gluten free baking including cakes, muffins, bread, cookies and pizza dough recipes: Add 1/2 tsp organic guar gum per one cup of gluten free flour.
