Organic purified - deodorised coconut oil is a high smoke point cooking oil, with very little of the coconut flavour or aroma, making it a versatile oil for all cooking purposes!
How our organic purified deodorised coconut oil is made…
- Refine –The coconut oil is physically purified when the coconut oil is expelled. This is done at low temperature. This is help keep the free fatty acid (FFA) level less than 0.1% that is the standard of RBD. No chemicals are used in this refinement process. NB: Some other manufacturers use a sodium hydroxide solution to remove the excess free fatty acid from oil.
- Bleach –Because edible copra is used and it is dried using a hot air dryer there is NO need to bleach this product. This is a new and unique technology.
NB: Some other manufacturers use normal copra which is dried using wood fire, it is much cheaper but needs to be bleached. This is often done by using Fullers earth powder . This is sedimentary clays or clay-like earthy material used to decolourise, filter, and purify animal, mineral, and vegetable oils. There is usually no chemical contamination or residuals, but clearly a lot more processed than our oil.
- Deodorising – We also used steam to remove odour.
